LET ME IN LOCKSMITH · PRACTICAL ADVICE
Locked out? What to do before calling a locksmith
Practical next steps for a house lockout in the North East, including what to tell Mark and how to confirm the quote.
Call to confirm availability and an arrival estimate. Parts and labour are quoted before work starts.
Start with your safety
If anyone is in immediate danger, contact the emergency services. Otherwise, stay somewhere safe while arranging help. If a trusted person holds a spare key, contact them before booking a locksmith. Do not climb through an unsafe window or force the door.
Explain the door and the problem
Tell Mark your postcode, whether the door shut behind you or the lock failed, and whether the key is lost, inside or stuck. A timber door with a nightlatch and a uPVC door with a multipoint lock may need different approaches. Send a photo of the door and handle if it is safe to do so.
Confirm attendance and the price
Ask who will attend, when they expect to arrive and what the quoted work includes. Mention that it is an evening or weekend enquiry. No separate call-out fee does not mean the repair or replacement hardware is free. Mark confirms availability and explains the chargeable work.
Entry and the next decision
The suitable entry method depends on the door, lock and fault; damage-free entry cannot be promised in every case. Mark can discuss the options before starting. If keys are missing rather than simply inside, ask whether replacing the lock is sensible. You may need to show that you are authorised to enter.
Your next step
For an urgent lockout or an unsecured door, call Mark. For a planned repair, send your postcode, the symptoms and a photograph on WhatsApp. Do not include images of keys or access codes.
