Window handles and locking mechanisms: repair enquiries

What to tell Mark about a faulty window handle or locking mechanism, and how to confirm the repair is within scope.

Call to confirm availability and an arrival estimate. Parts and labour are quoted before work starts.

Describe what has changed

Tell Mark whether the handle is loose, jammed, broken or not operating the lock. Explain whether the window is open or closed and whether it can be secured. Do not force it or lean outside to inspect it. A photograph of the handle and visible hardware is a useful starting point.

Check which part needs attention

A handle fault, a locking mechanism problem and a window that does not fit its frame are different issues. An inspection may be needed before a replacement part can be specified. Older timber and sash windows have different hardware from uPVC windows; do not assume a single replacement works for all.

Repair scope

Mark takes enquiries about window handles and locking mechanisms. Glass, car-window and window-hinge repairs are not offered. If the problem is outside this scope, seek the appropriate specialist. Confirm the window type and fault before booking rather than ordering parts from a photograph alone.

Confirm the quote and test the result

Ask which parts and labour are included and whether any further issue was found. After agreed work, check the handle and securing action with Mark. If a fault leaves your property unsecured, call to explain the situation and confirm availability.

Your next step

For an urgent lockout or an unsecured door, call Mark. For a planned repair, send your postcode, the symptoms and a photograph on WhatsApp. Do not include images of keys or access codes.
